This logo is already up in my portfolio, but I wanted to make a post about it because I love it so much! This is the character logo for my D&D character, Anaxa.

For background, I play a LOT of D&D with my close friends. I've been playing on and off for about 8 years with roughly the same group. Anaxa is a character I made for a game run by a GM (game master) that I'd never played with before. I worked with her to integrate Anaxa into the story of the world, since it's entirely a new setting for me, and I wanted to make sure she fit in right off the bat. Thankfully, this GM has been amazing and has let me do some really cool stuff with her!

The character concept is a "magma genasi," or an earth genasi and tiefling hybrid, based around the idea of a volcano. The explosion is destructive, but the death is necessary for new life to flourish in its wake. Thus, she's a Grave Cleric (soon to multiclass into monk) focused on protecting life but also dishing out death where it's due.

For those interested, a further explanation for all the design decisions above are listed below.

Enlightenment:

The third eye placement of the fire is symbolic of Anaxa's search for knowledge. She seeks to understand her late father, as well as the secrets of the dead gods and those of the King who replaced them.

Maori:

The tribe Anaxa's parents are from is a homebrew nation made of a collection of islands that fit closely with the real geography of New Zealand and other pacific island peoples. I also chose Maori inspirations for their iconic tã moko tattoos, which tell the story of a persons life. Anaxa has the same tã moko as her late father in an attempt to feel closer to him and allow him to live on.

Tiefling / Genasi:

The earth genasi and tiefling mix makes her a "lava genasi," our homebrew hybrid race. Earth genasi brings with it a connection to the land, nature, and the cycle of life, while tiefling offers fire and the unique struggles of being considered a "cursed" species.

Grave Cleric:

The main conflict in the campaign is that the new King uses undead as servants and the souls of the dead as a new type of fuel for machinery and magic. As such, there is no more afterlife. Souls are kept on earth and harvested. I created Anaxa to be a Grave Cleric so she would stand in direct opposition to this - believing in the cycle of life and death, and being worried about the repercussions of souls accumulating on earth. She follows Kelemvor, the god of the dead, who was killed by the current King, and seeks to uncover the truth about his demise, or even revive him and restore him to power.

Colors:

The color choice is fairly straightforward. I chose a bright orange for magma, rather than a more aggressive red. The blue accent is to balance the orange, similarly to how death balances life. The off-black is for death or nothingness, but also for the black ink of her tã moko. Finally, the off-white balances out the black.

Monk:

I'll be multi-classing Anaxa into monk later in the campaign. While it's not shown in the logo, it uses the same game stat as Cleric does and will fit into her build seamlessly. I chose Monk because of how well the stats line up, but also to make her fighting style more similar to her father and uncle.

Thanks for reading! I find it interesting and fun to stretch my creativity as far as it will go, even into things like D&D. Let me know what you think of the designs and of the character concept!
