Bodi Botanica
Luxury, Small Batch Scents
Bodi Botanica is an inclusive luxury scent brand that I began working with in late 2024. Rachel came to me with a logo and a concept, which was turned into the full brand she uses today. I set up a proper logo suite for her and then began helping with her brand identity, website design, and print materials like printouts and bottle labels. Her brand identity combines natural, California colors with a luxury feel and includes aesthetic and inclusive imagery. Bodi Botanica is one of my favorite projects to date. It's truly an honor to get to help a small business develop, and I'm pleased to be able to work with a client that values inclusivity and sustainability.

The Details
I was recommended to Rachel by a mutual friend of ours. When we met, she had a primary logo, a general idea for colors, some stock images, and her brand information. She was looking for a finished identity, but more importantly, a website to be the home for her brand. And as a small business, she needed something she'd be able to maintain without me in the future.
Before touching any website builders, I started with the materials she already had. From her original logo, I took the fonts and made her a full logo suite. From her original palette and stock photos, I narrowed her palette down to primary greens with accents of warm California colors. While six is still a lot of brand colors, there was specifically one for each of her signature scents, and it would later be used to give each scent its own colored package. At the time, she had no original photos of her scents or clients, so I also recommended that we purchase some assets before website design began. We settled on a set of blurry flora photos, which are still present as section backgrounds on her site.
With the identity in hand, website design began. I used the dark and olive greens with white for a luxury look, with pops of her other colors used sparingly on things like buttons. Most of her photos and product info were still placeholders at this point, so everything was set up so that she’d be able to make those changes when she was ready. Rachel has since adjusted her website to further match her changing brand direction, and has gotten plenty of new, gorgeous photos of the scents and their packaging. She now specializes in group events instead of individual sales.
Rachel later contacted me again to work on her packaging. She had her signature green bottles, but needed labels and boxes for them. The labels were made to match the color to the scent, then printed on a textured sticker to give them a natural feel. The boxes were a greater challenge - not only did I have to design them, but the two of us worked together to look for a local vendor that could print the type of box we wanted. Price was also an issue, so we elected to skip a separate cardboard insert. The boxes, which she wanted to be two-part sliders, now needed to fit each other and the bottle itself perfectly to prevent any rattling. Using dielines from the printers and Pacdora for modelling, I designed her two-part box: a colored outside with black foil, each one color to match the inside scent, and a solid black inside. The local vendor was able to provide us with a sample, and everything fit perfectly. You can see more photos of her packaging on her Etsy store and on her website.
I am no longer maintaining the Website; the project has concluded and it's been handed off to the client. (The current state of the website may not reflect the original work done by Roana Art and Design.)
